Delap double helps Chelsea lift VisitMalta Cup

Chelsea completed their pre-season preparations with an impressive 4–1 victory over AC Milan in the VisitMalta Cup at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues made a flying start and moved ahead after five minutes when Andrei Coubiș turned Reece James’ free-kick into his own net.

João Pedro doubled Chelsea’s advantage three minutes later, meeting Pedro Neto’s cross with a powerful header beyond Mike Maignan.

Milan’s task became even more difficult in the 18th minute when Coubiș was shown a straight red card for bringing down João Pedro as he raced towards goal.

Chelsea remained in control and added a third in the 67th minute. Estêvão was fouled inside the penalty area, allowing substitute Liam Delap to score from the spot.

Youssouf Fofana pulled one back for Milan three minutes later, but Delap completed the scoring in the final minute with a composed finish following an excellent pass from Andrey Santos.

The result completed a successful VisitMalta Weekender for Chelsea and provided a positive conclusion to their pre-season campaign.

Scorers:
Chelsea: Coubiș 5’ (og), João Pedro 8’, Delap 67’ (p), 90’
