Legia bow out of European competition with a victory
Legia Warszawa ended their UEFA Conference League campaign with a convincing 4–1 victory over Lincoln Red Imps at the Marshal Józef Piłsudski Municipal Stadium.
The hosts controlled the opening stages and took the lead in the 21st minute. Bartosz Kapustka found Antonio Čolak outside the penalty area, and the striker drove a low finish into the bottom corner.
Lincoln goalkeeper Jaylan Hankins made several saves to keep his side within one goal before half-time, while Tjay De Barr passed up the visitors’ best opportunity by firing over following a counterattack.
Legia doubled their advantage in the 62nd minute. Kacper Urbański released Kapustka during a quick break, allowing the captain to finish from a tight angle.
Substitute Mileta Rajović added the third eight minutes later, heading Jakub Żewłakow’s delivery into the bottom corner. Vahan Bichakhchyan then completed Legia’s scoring in the 83rd minute with a close-range finish following another counterattack.
De Barr scored a late consolation for Lincoln in the 89th minute, but the result could not prevent either side from being eliminated. Legia finished 28th in the league-phase table despite ending a difficult European campaign with victory.
