Vinícius double fires Brazil past Scotland
Brazil secured top spot in World Cup Group C with a commanding 3–0 victory over Scotland at Miami Stadium.
Vinícius Júnior opened the scoring in the seventh minute after capitalising on a defensive mistake. The Real Madrid forward had another effort disallowed before doubling Brazil’s lead with a header in first-half stoppage time.
Scotland attempted to respond after the break, but Brazil remained in control. Matheus Cunha completed the scoring in the 60th minute with a composed finish.
Neymar later returned from injury as a substitute, making his first appearance for Brazil at the tournament.
The victory sent Brazil into the Round of 32 as group winners. Scotland finished third and were left depending on results elsewhere to determine their qualification fate.
